Developing Financing Models for SSWSPs

On January 2009, STREAMS, a global coalition of resource centres engaged in policy advocacy and capacity building in the area of water, sanitation and hygiene has entered into a Letter of Agreement (LOA) with the Asian Development Bank to carry out a 10-months Pilot Demonstration Activity (PDA) action research project that intends to develop a financing model dedicated to meet the financing needs of small scale water service providers (SSWSPs).

Bridging IWRM and WASH


During the January planning workshop of Cap-Net, an agreement has been reached for Streams and its members, in particular, IWSD to develop the module a training module that would address the need to bridge IWRM and WASH. The training targets both WASH and IWRM practitioners to effectively integrate WASH in the IWRM framework. Currently, Streams, IWSD and Cap Net are in the process offine tuning the module for its pilot implementation this year.

A group of 16 Mozambicans from the Fundo de Investimento e Patrimonio do Abastecimento de Agua (FIPAG) visited the Streams on March 1-2, 2009 to participate in a seminar on Small Water Service Providers (SWSPs)

STREAMS-ARIEL Joint Initiative

Under its Water, Sanitation and Hygiene ( WASH) framework, the Streams of Knowledge ( STREAMS) in partnership with the Japan Water Forum and the Proctor and Gamble Japan and the local government of Barangay 181, Caloocan City, Philippines is working with the Pangarap Elementary School community to pilot a reuse oriented toilet ecological sanitation (ECOSAN) toilet system. This will have three components: improvement of water supply facilities, toilet construction and hygiene promotion and education. To date, meetings as well as initial construction of the water tank are being undertaken.

 

 

STREAMS-UNDP PPPSD Project Concluded

The joint Streams-UNDP PPPSD project on Developing a Pro Poor Public-Private Partnership in Water Service Delivery for the Urban Poor has already been completed as of end of December 2008
